## What SocialHood is

SocialHood is a community platform organized around neighborhoods rather than friend graphs or interest topics. Instead of following people you already know, you follow the place you live: each neighborhood has its own feed of local news, stories, and events shared by the people who live there.

The spirit of SocialHood is positive and local — it's a place to surface and share the good things going on around you, from a new café opening down the street to a youth team's championship to a mural going up in the park. Rather than the negativity that dominates much of social media and the news cycle, SocialHood focuses on community pride, discovery, and connection.

The site is structured as a geographic hierarchy — regions contain cities, cities contain neighborhoods, and each neighborhood has a dedicated page with its own stream of local stories. Coverage is currently centered on Chicago and the surrounding Illinois area, with neighborhood-level pages for individual Chicago communities (e.g. Bronzeville, Andersonville, Logan Square) as well as nearby cities.
