Bronzeville Celebrates Community with 47th Street Festival as New Housing Development Announced

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Bronzeville ·

This past weekend, Bronzeville residents gathered for the 13th Annual Bronzeville Summer Nights celebration, which moved to Saturday, October 11th to celebrate the completion of the Streetscape Improvement & Upgrades on East 47th Street. From 1-5pm, community members danced in the streets, shopped local businesses, and enjoyed the best culinary offerings the neighborhood has to offer.

Meanwhile, exciting development news has emerged for the neighborhood as plans were recently revealed for a residential redevelopment of four vacant lots at 3736 to 3766 South Michigan Avenue. The project, led by Capricorn Design + Build LLC and designed by Hanna Architects, will transform property that has been vacant for over two decades into four separate four-story buildings. The development will add 90 new housing units to the area, with 18 designated as affordable housing to meet city requirements. As Bronzeville continues to grow, these developments reflect the neighborhood's commitment to community, commerce, and culture that makes this historic South Side area so special.
