Bucktown's 'Meet Me on Milwaukee' Open Streets Event Returns This Sunday for Final 2025 Session

Bucktown residents will have one last chance this year to experience Milwaukee Avenue free of cars during the final 'Meet Me on Milwaukee' event of 2025 this Sunday, October 27. The popular pedestrianization initiative closes a 0.7-mile stretch of Milwaukee Avenue to vehicle traffic, transforming the bustling corridor into a community gathering space.

According to Pamela Maass, Executive Director of the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, the event series has "exceeded expectations" since its launch earlier this year. "Closing the street to cars opened up Milwaukee Avenue in a whole new way – families with strollers, neighbors walking their dogs, skateboarders and bicyclists, and visitors of all ages could move comfortably, while connecting with local businesses in a welcoming, vibrant space," Maass explained. The initiative was spearheaded by local Alderman Daniel La Spata (1st) and the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, with support from the Chicago Department of Transportation.

The event runs from noon to 6 p.m., with the car-free zone extending from North and Damen avenues to Division Street and Ashland Avenue. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring their families, bikes, skateboards, or simply walking shoes to enjoy this unique experience. Local businesses along the route will offer special promotions, and community organizations will host various activities. Don't miss your final opportunity this year to experience Bucktown's main thoroughfare as a vibrant pedestrian plaza!
