Lurie Children's Hospital Expands Footprint in Streeterville with American Dental Association Building Acquisition
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Streeterville ·
Streeterville's healthcare landscape is evolving as Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital recently completed its acquisition of the neighboring American Dental Association (ADA) headquarters at 211 E. Chicago Avenue. This strategic move allows the nationally ranked pediatric hospital to expand its clinical capacity while maintaining its presence in the heart of Streeterville.
The 23-story tower, which has been the ADA's home for nearly 60 years, will enable Lurie to relocate administrative offices from its main hospital building, freeing up valuable space for patient care. "As we continue to experience strong demand for our services, we plan to expand clinical capacity by moving more administrative offices out of the main hospital to our new building next door," explained Kary McIlwain, senior vice president at Lurie Children's. The hospital, which completed its state-of-the-art 1.4-million-square-foot main facility in 2012, has been experiencing consistently high demand for its specialized pediatric services.
This expansion coincides with other healthcare developments in Streeterville, including Northwestern Memorial Hospital's planned construction of the new Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center at 333 East Huron Street. Streeterville residents can expect continued growth in the neighborhood's world-class medical district, solidifying its reputation as a hub for cutting-edge healthcare in Chicago. For updates on Lurie Children's Hospital's expansion plans and community impact, visit their website or attend upcoming neighborhood association meetings.
