Flora Welcomes First Residents to West Town's Newest Luxury Tower
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Town ·
West Town's skyline has a striking new addition as Flora, the 34-story luxury apartment tower at 1114 West Carroll Avenue in the Fulton Market District, officially welcomed its first residents this month. The development, which opened its doors on October 15, offers 368 units ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments.
The architecturally impressive building includes a below-grade 95-space garage and storage for 185 bicycles, creating what many observers call a "sharp-looking addition" to the westward-expanding West Loop area. Urban planners have noted that Flora represents the type of high-density residential development that could benefit from improved public transit connections, with some suggesting a new Metra station between Western Avenue and Ogilvie Transportation Center. Residents will enjoy an impressive array of amenities including an outdoor rooftop pool, spa-inspired indoor pool, extensive co-working spaces, and pet-friendly features throughout the property.
The development marks a significant milestone in the area's transformation from its industrial past. This section of Fulton Market along Carroll Street was previously zoned exclusively for industrial use until 2020, when the city established the Fulton Market Innovation District (FMID) to position the neighborhood as a technology and innovation hub. The rezoning permitted mixed-use and residential high-rises in the area for the first time, triggering the current construction boom. West Town residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the neighborhood's newest landmark and the rapidly evolving Fulton Market District, which continues to blend residential, commercial, and cultural elements into one of Chicago's most dynamic communities.
