Historic Leona's Pizzeria Opens New Location in Old Irving Park Following Elston Avenue Closure

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·

Irving Park residents have a new dining option as Leona's Pizzeria, a Chicago institution dating back to 1950, has opened its doors at 4363 West Irving Park Road. The pizzeria chain found a new home in the former Tahina Kitchen storefront last month after its Elston Avenue location closed late last year.

Leona's, which was originally founded in Lakeview, brings its signature pizzas and Italian fare to Old Irving Park, adding to the neighborhood's growing culinary landscape. The new location is open seven days a week with extended hours on weekends, serving from 11 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sundays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.

This addition to the Irving Park food scene comes as other dining establishments in the area are evolving. Nearby, Irene's Finer Diner owner Petros Papatheofanis continues rebuilding efforts after a grease fire last year, with hopes to reopen by the end of October. Irving Park residents looking to enjoy a slice of Chicago pizza history can visit the new Leona's location, supporting a long-standing local business that has found a fresh start in the neighborhood.
