Edgewater's Food Scene Expands with Panda Express, Cafe Colombiano Opening Near Red Line

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·

Edgewater's dining landscape is evolving with several new eateries establishing roots in the neighborhood. Popular fast-casual chain Panda Express is coming to 1123 W. Berwyn Avenue, with city permits recently approved for signage installation at the currently vacant storefront. The new restaurant will be strategically located at the end of a strip mall near the newly renovated Berwyn Red Line station, potentially bringing more foot traffic to an area that has seen several empty storefronts.

Meanwhile, La Parrilla Colombian Restaurant has expanded its Edgewater presence with the opening of Cafe Colombiano at 5940 N. Broadway. The new cafe, which began serving customers late last month, offers classic coffee drinks and creative options like marshmallow lattes and coconut cream matcha. The expansion builds on the success of La Parrilla, which has been serving traditional Colombian cuisine in the neighborhood since 2024.

These new dining options arrive as Edgewater continues to see commercial revitalization along major corridors like Broadway and Berwyn Avenue. Residents interested in supporting these local businesses are encouraged to visit both establishments and share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #EdgewaterEats to help promote the neighborhood's growing food scene.
