Hyde Park residents can mark their calendars for the neighborhood's beloved holiday tradition as the Hyde Park Holly-Day Celebration returns on Saturday, December 6, 2025, with a full day of free festive activities throughout the community. Sponsored by the University of Chicago in partnership with Downtown Hyde Park, the Chamber of Commerce, and the South East Chicago Commission, this year's celebration promises to transform the neighborhood into a winter wonderland from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Families can enjoy a variety of activities including an ice carving demonstration at Harper Court, a self-guided ice sculpture stroll along 53rd Street, photos with Soul Santa and Mrs. Claus at The Promontory, and free screenings of 'Zootopia 2' at the Harper Theater. Additional highlights include appearances by Buddy the Elf, costumed characters, live reindeer with a sleigh, dance performances, and holiday crafts stationed throughout the neighborhood. The event, now in its fourth year, has become a cherished community tradition that brings together residents of all ages.

Community members interested in participating can begin their Holly-Day adventure at any location along 53rd Street between Lake Park Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue. No registration is required for this free celebration, making it an accessible holiday activity for everyone.
