Ujima Hive Resiliency Hub Set to Open Doors in West Englewood This November

West Englewood residents will soon have access to a transformative community resource as the highly anticipated Ujima Hive Resiliency Hub prepares for its November 2025 opening. Located at the former Hayes Admin Building at 6529 S. Stewart Avenue, this
The Ujima Hive, led by Grow Greater Englewood in partnership with Teamwork Englewood, Urban Growers Collective, Urban Tech Academy and BlackRoots Alliance, transforms a long-vacant Chicago Public Schools building into a comprehensive community hub. The first phase opening this month includes a café, shared kitchen, food pantry, and community garden. Additional features will include office spaces for community organizations, a business launchpad focused on agriculture and technology, educational resources, and media production facilities.
"The hive is an effort to create resiliency built out for us by us," explains Anton Seals, lead steward and co-founder at Grow Greater Englewood. Community members interested in learning more about the Ujima Hive's upcoming programs or volunteer opportunities are encouraged to contact Grow Greater Englewood directly or attend the official ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for mid-November.
