LeClaire Courts Redevelopment Accelerates with New Construction Permits in Garfield Ridge

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Garfield Ridge ·

A significant housing development is taking shape in Garfield Ridge as permits have been issued for two new residential buildings at the LeClaire Courts site. According to Urbanize Chicago, the

27 million project will deliver 183 new apartments to the neighborhood, bringing much-needed housing options to the Southwest Side community.

Located about a mile and a half north of Midway Airport, the original LeClaire Courts public housing community was demolished in 2011 after serving the area since the 1950s. This initial phase of redevelopment will fill the gap along the west side of Cicero Avenue between 44th and 45th Streets, transforming a long-vacant area into vibrant new housing.

The Habitat Company and Cabrera Capital Partners are serving as co-developers on the project with architectural planning by Solomon Cordwell Buenz. Residents interested in learning more about the LeClaire Courts redevelopment and other neighborhood initiatives can connect with the Garfield Ridge Neighborhood Watch, which continues its 17-year tradition of fostering community connections through regular events and meetings.
