Irving Park's Explore Irving Park Chicago Group Plans New Special Service Area to Revitalize Corridor

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·

Irving Park businesses are taking a bold step toward neighborhood revitalization as the Explore Irving Park Chicago (EIPC) group pushes forward with plans to establish a new Special Service Area (SSA) focused on the commercial corridor near Irving Park Road and North Elston Avenue.

The group, comprised of 13 local businesses, aims to better market vacant storefronts—some empty for years—to potential business owners, making the area more visible and desirable for new enterprises. "We want to help make our area more visible and desirable for businesses to come in," explained a representative from EIPC. Long-term plans include improving pedestrian connections between Irving Park's commercial corridors and nearby transit options, including the Irving Park Blue Line and Grayland Metra stations.

Neighbors can already see the impact of local business growth with recently opened establishments including Scrub-A-Dub Grooming, And She Bakes Too, Dennis Pasamba Dance Company, and the soon-to-open Little Sweet Pea's Vintage. Residents interested in supporting these developments or learning about the proposed SSA can connect with EIPC through their website, where community members receive updates about neighborhood happenings and opportunities for engagement.
