West Pullman's Ethola Restaurant and BSCP Hall Project Advances, Creating New Dining and Event Destination

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Pullman ·

West Pullman residents have exciting news to look forward to as Dr. Adelanke Bademosi's plans for the Ethola Restaurant and BSCP Hall continue to advance. The project aims to transform a long-vacant building at 846 W. 119th Street into a vibrant hospitality destination featuring Afro-Caribbean cuisine, a modern event space, and community programming.

"We know how important this is for our community. There really aren't that many places to have a sit-down dinner," project representatives have stated. The development will offer live jazz performances and feature a rooftop area for warmer months, along with weekly happy hours. Beyond dining, the project includes a workforce development component through partnerships with Community Assistance Programs and the Illinois Restaurant Association, providing hospitality training certifications and employment opportunities.

Expected to create 18 permanent jobs and at least 30 construction jobs, the $4 million project has received positive feedback from community members during planning meetings. "This is a place for us to celebrate great moments, but also to plan future events and moments to come," noted 21st Ward Alderman Ronnie Mosley, who emphasized that the development aligns with the Far South Side Quality of Life plan created in 2021. Residents interested in learning more about the project or future employment opportunities can contact the 21st Ward office for updates on the next community meeting.
