Treewhispers Exhibition Transforms Former School into Cultural Haven at Irving Park's Artists Book House
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·
Irving Park residents now have a unique cultural experience to enjoy as the Artists Book House at 4207 W. Irving Park Road hosts its inaugural exhibition, "Treewhispers." This international collaboration celebrating the profound connection between trees and humanity through handmade paper and artistic exploration marks a significant milestone for the neighborhood's growing arts scene.
The exhibition, which serves as the first public event in the Artists Book House's new Irving Park location, features handmade paper rounds with personal memories, poems, and imagery of trees that form an ever-evolving paper forest. The project is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025 under founder Pamela Paulsrud, making it a particularly significant cultural addition to the neighborhood. Visitors can experience this celebration of nature and art through scheduled appointments and several upcoming special events, including workshops on calligraphy and pulp painting.
Neighbors interested in experiencing this artistic celebration can email [email protected] to schedule a visit, or attend the upcoming Chicago Calligraphy Weathergrams event on February 16, which is free and open to the public. The exhibition adds to Irving Park's developing identity as a hub for creative expression on Chicago's Northwest Side.
