Pita Inn Construction Gets Green Light at Six Corners: First Chicago Location Coming to Portage Park
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Portage Park ·
Exciting progress is underway at the Six Corners shopping district as construction permits have been issued for the highly anticipated Pita Inn restaurant at the former Sears Auto Center site. The popular Mediterranean restaurant chain, which currently operates five suburban locations, will make history with its first-ever Chicago location at 4035 N. Cicero Avenue in Portage Park.
According to recent permit approvals, Hirsch MPG is serving as the architect of record for the new standalone building, while Mark Scheerhorn of Chipman Design Architecture in Des Plaines will oversee the restaurant buildout. The development is part of a larger revitalization effort spearheaded by Novak Construction, which also developed the nearby 6 Corners Lofts luxury apartments. The project will include three standalone buildings housing Pita Inn, a Burlington department store, and a Wells Fargo branch, bringing fresh dining and shopping options to the neighborhood.
Portage Park residents eager to experience Pita Inn's renowned Mediterranean cuisine can look forward to the restaurant's planned outdoor dining area, which will enhance the neighborhood's growing reputation as a dining destination. While the complete Six Corners redevelopment project is projected for completion in late 2026, the construction permit for Pita Inn signals tangible progress in this significant neighborhood enhancement. Community members interested in learning more about this and other developments can attend the Portage Park Advisory Council's next meeting, held on the 4th Monday of odd-numbered months from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
