Maison Pasquale Brings European Market Charm to Roscoe Village's Food Scene
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Roscoe Village ·
A new specialty food and wine shop inspired by the markets of France and Italy has recently opened in Roscoe Village. Maison Pasquale, located at 2058 W. Roscoe St., was designed to recreate the charm of small European épiceries where shelves are lined with local products and neighbors gather over food and wine.
The shop is owned by Patrick Walsh, who grew up in Provence, and Julia Casale, who named the business partly for her grandfather (Pasquale). The duo spent three months traveling across Europe last summer, meeting small producers and sourcing items to bring back to Chicago. "Many of the products we carry have never been imported to the city," Casale explained. "It's really about highlighting small producers we believe in and creating a place where people can discover new things." The space is split between retail shelves and a small deli with five or six tables, offering European staples and housewares like lavender bundles from Provence alongside wines, spirits, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Casale envisions the shop as a neighborhood gathering place as much as a store. "You can come in for a sandwich at lunch, grab a cheese board to take to a party or sit down for a snack with a glass of wine before dinner at another spot on the street," she said. "We're not trying to compete with anyone. We want to add to the neighborhood, bring energy and give people more reasons to walk around."
Roscoe Village residents and visitors are invited to experience this European-inspired culinary destination, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Mondays). Whether you're looking for unique holiday gifts, ingredients for a special meal, or simply a quiet spot to enjoy a glass of wine and a sandwich, Maison Pasquale offers a taste of Europe right in the heart of our neighborhood.
