Treewhispers Exhibition Offers Special November Workshops at Irving Park's Artists Book House

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·

Irving Park's Artists Book House is hosting several special events this month as part of the ongoing Treewhispers exhibition, which celebrates its landmark 25th anniversary in 2025. The exhibition, which features handmade paper rounds that form an ever-evolving paper forest celebrating the connection between trees and humanity, has become a cultural highlight at the center's 4207 W. Irving Park Road location.

In addition to viewing the exhibition by appointment, Irving Park residents can participate in two newly announced workshops this November. On November 22, Julie Wildman will lead a special calligraphy workshop focused on creating "fun and funky arboreal letters" inspired by the exhibition's themes. The following week, on November 29, community members can join a hands-on pulp painting workshop led by artist Don Widmer, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to this international collaborative project. These workshops build on the exhibition's interactive nature, which invites participants to share personal memories, poems, and artistic expressions related to trees.

Neighbors interested in experiencing this unique cultural offering can email [email protected] to schedule a visit to see the exhibition. This installation represents the first major public event in the Artists Book House's new Irving Park location, which was founded by bestselling author Audrey Niffenegger and received a significant city grant earlier this year to support its development as a neighborhood cultural hub.
