Edgewater residents of all musical abilities will have a new opportunity to connect through the arts as the Edgewater Community Music Jam debuts this Saturday, November 22, from 1:00-2:00pm at the Edgewater Branch Library. The inclusive program welcomes musicians of all levels who play acoustic instruments, as well as singers and music enthusiasts who simply want to listen and enjoy.
The jam sessions include group playing, solo performances, and social time, creating a welcoming environment for community members to share their musical talents. Participants are encouraged to bring portable instruments including keyboards, guitars, ukuleles, string instruments, and even brass and woodwind instruments, while percussion instruments will be provided. The musical selections will span diverse genres including folk, country, pop, standards, jazz, classical, Broadway, and seasonal tunes, with music provided in print form or projected on screen.
The event is offered in partnership with Edgewater Village Chicago, with registration recommended but not required. Interested musicians and music lovers can register on the Chicago Public Library website to secure a spot at this community-building event. The Edgewater Branch Library continues to serve as a vibrant hub for neighborhood activities, with the new music program joining other upcoming events including the Memory Café and Season's Greetings Card Giving Program taking place on November 21.
