Ravenswood Shops Unite for 'Small Businesses, Big Hearts' Virtual Raffle Supporting Local Food Pantries
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Ravenswood ·
More than 30 independent businesses across Ravenswood and Lincoln Square are demonstrating the power of community this holiday season through the 'Small Businesses, Big Hearts' virtual fundraiser. The initiative, which launched last week, has already raised over $6,000 to support three neighborhood food pantries—The Friendship Center, Common Pantry, and Ravenswood Community Services—as well as the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
The fundraiser features 16 carefully curated gift baskets showcasing the best of Ravenswood's local businesses. Participants can purchase raffle tickets ranging from $5 for one ticket to $500 for 300 tickets, with all proceeds directly benefiting the selected nonprofits. One standout prize, the 'At Home Tap' package, includes merchandise from Dovetail Brewery, a red Chicago star neon sign from Lightwriters Neon, and a specialty candle from Merz Apothecary, with a combined value of $465.
Neighbors interested in supporting this community initiative can purchase raffle tickets until Friday, November 22, through the fundraiser's website. Even those who don't wish to enter the raffle can make direct donations to the cause. The collaboration highlights Ravenswood's strong tradition of businesses giving back, with each raffle ticket purchased translating to multiple meals for food-insecure residents during this critical time of need.
