The new two-story facility will replace the existing deteriorated structure that dates back to 1904 and no longer meets community needs. Plans include club rooms, a boxing room, basketball courts, a fitness center, dance room, teen room and dedicated spaces for community programming, anchoring the 60-acre park. Local organizations including Teamwork Englewood, R.A.G.E, Imagine Englewood If, and the Ogden Park Advisory Council were credited for their advocacy, along with neighborhood children who asked 17th Ward Alderman David Moore to prioritize the project. State Rep. Lisa Davis called the announcement "the fruits of your ask" to the community.
Local leaders describe the project as one of the most significant investments in Ogden Park in decades that will play a major role in revitalizing recreational options for West Englewood families. The park currently offers robust year-round programming including after-school activities, summer day camp, Junior Bears, boxing and teen programs. Community engagement for the detailed design features will begin in Spring 2026, with residents encouraged to participate in upcoming meetings to help shape this transformative neighborhood resource.
