Growing Home Urban Farm Expands Winter Market Hours in West Englewood

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Englewood ·

From February to November, Growing Home operates a fully functioning 1.75-acre farm along Wood Street in Englewood. As winter approaches, the USDA-Certified Organic urban farm has announced expanded hours for their popular Winter Market, ensuring West Englewood residents maintain access to fresh, locally-grown produce year-round.

The Wood Street Urban Farm, which has become a cornerstone of food sovereignty in the neighborhood, will now offer extended weekend hours for their indoor growing space, featuring seasonal vegetables and educational workshops. This expansion aligns with Growing Home's mission to provide healthy food access in West Englewood while creating employment opportunities through their workforce development programs.

Community members interested in supporting this local initiative can visit the Winter Market starting November 23rd at 5814 S. Wood Street. Visitors can participate in seasonal cooking demonstrations and learn about urban agriculture practices that are transforming vacant spaces into productive community assets throughout West Englewood.
