Flan's Glass Illuminates Bucktown with Expanded Artisan Studio and Workshop Space

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Bucktown ·

Bucktown's creative landscape continues to shine brighter with Flan's Glass, the popular stained glass studio that has recently expanded into a spacious new location at 2016 W. Armitage Avenue. Owner Flannery Thompson, who transitioned from software engineering to pursue her artistic passion full-time, has transformed the storefront into a vibrant hub for stained glass enthusiasts of all skill levels.

The new Bucktown location features a welcoming retail space selling wholesale glass pieces and supplies, alongside Thompson's original custom creations prominently displayed in the large front window. The back of the shop houses a dedicated workshop area where Thompson offers classes that have proven incredibly popular, often selling out within minutes of being posted online. Beyond scheduled workshops, Thompson provides affordable open studio time for class graduates, giving community members access to specialized equipment in a safe environment.

"I was building a community space that I wanted to be a part of, that I didn't see in Chicago," Thompson explained of her vision for the expanded studio. Bucktown residents interested in experiencing this unique art form can view class schedules at flansglass.com or stop by to see the colorful creations that now illuminate Armitage Avenue, adding another dimension to the neighborhood's thriving artisan community.
