Mandrake Park Food Truck Festival Returns to Oakland This Weekend with Winter Market

Oakland residents can look forward to a festive community gathering this weekend as Mandrake Park hosts its highly anticipated Food Truck Festival combined with a special Winter Market on Saturday, November 29. The event will feature a variety of local vendors, seasonal treats, and family activities, building on the park's tradition of hosting special events throughout the year including gym showcases and outdoor movie screenings.

The festival is being organized in partnership with the Kenwood Oakland Community Organization (KOCO), which has deep ties to both Bronzeville and Oakland areas. Known for their popular annual KOCO Fest summer event at Mandrake Park that features blues performances, food trucks, and family-friendly entertainment, the organization is now expanding their community engagement into the winter months. This event represents another positive step in Oakland's ongoing neighborhood revitalization, which has transformed the area into a flourishing South Side community. In recent years, many of Oakland's quiet residential streets have seen significant development with newly built single-family homes and multi-unit constructions with manicured lawns, while community organizations have established various educational and recreational programs for residents.

Visitors are encouraged to bring new or gently-used winter clothing items to donate to the Oakland Community Center's winter clothing drive. The festival runs from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Mandrake Park, located at 3858 S. Cottage Grove Avenue. Residents interested in learning more about upcoming winter programming at the park or volunteering for future community events can speak with KOCO representatives who will be on site throughout the festival.
