Riverline Development Advances in South Loop with Plans for Second Tower Revealed

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/South Loop ·

South Loop residents will soon see more progress on the long-anticipated Riverline development as plans have been revealed for the project's second building at 910 South Wells Street. The 28-story tower, which recently received approval from the Chicago Department of Planning and Development, will stand 314 feet tall and represents a significant step forward for this transformative riverfront project.

The development, led by CMK Companies with Gensler serving as the design architect, aims to revitalize a long-dormant area along the Chicago River. According to recent city approvals, the tower's design has been flipped from its original north-south orientation to run east-west, allowing for an additional tower to the north. This comes as the first phase of Riverline at 1010 South Wells Street, which will feature 386 apartments in a 21-story mixed-use building, has already begun foundation work.

When completed, the ambitious 62-acre Riverline project promises to transform a former railyard into a vibrant mixed-use community with a half-mile riverfront promenade, extensive green spaces, dining spots, and up to 10,000 residential units. South Loop residents interested in following the development's progress can view updated renderings online or attend upcoming community meetings where project representatives will share more details about construction timelines.
