Cheese & Board Brings Artisanal Flavors to West Loop Holiday Season

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Loop ·

West Loop's newest culinary destination, Cheese & Board at 948 W. Madison Street, is emerging as a neighborhood favorite just in time for the holiday season. Opened by West Loop resident Grace Shaf, who left her career in finance to pursue her passion, the boutique shop offers more than 70 artisanal cheeses, custom charcuterie boards, French butters, and specialty food items. Shaf's journey from finance executive to cheese entrepreneur began with her love for hosting and creating elaborate cheese boards for friends before transforming this hobby into a thriving business.

The shop features three customizable cheese board options to suit any gathering: Intimate for 2-3 people, Gathering for 4-5, and Celebration serving up to 10, making it the perfect stop for holiday party hosts or guests looking for a distinctive contribution to seasonal gatherings. To ensure exceptional quality, Shaf hired industry veteran Dave Phillips as head cheesemonger, bringing over 20 years of experience to the store. Together, they've curated a collection of domestic and imported artisan cheeses alongside sought-after treasures like hand-paddled Bordier French Butter and local salumi. West Loop residents are encouraged to visit the shop, open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., to discover unique holiday gifts or create memorable centerpieces for seasonal gatherings.
