Christkindlmarket Returns to Lake View This Sunday, Bringing Holiday Magic Back to Wrigleyville

Lake View residents can officially kick off the holiday season as the beloved Christkindlmarket returns to Wrigleyville's Gallagher Way this Sunday, November 23, following a one-year hiatus. The German-inspired holiday market, which took a pause in 2024 to accommodate the NHL Winter Classic at Wrigley Field, will transform the area into a festive village through December 31, 2025.
The Wrigleyville edition will feature dozens of local and international vendors offering handcrafted ornaments, unique gifts, and seasonal treats. Traditional favorites such as bratwurst, roasted nuts, and steaming mugs of glühwein will be on the menu, alongside hot chocolate served in the market's collectible souvenir mugs. Rooted in German tradition with its candy cane-striped wooden huts, the market provides festive shopping options while maintaining free admission for all visitors. New this year is the introduction of the Krampus Stuffie, a cute plush collectible featuring the mischievous character from German folklore.
The market will operate Monday through Thursday from 3 PM to 9 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM, with special hours on holidays. While Christkindlmarket has been a Chicago tradition since 1996, the Wrigleyville location, introduced in 2017, has become particularly popular for families on the North Side looking for holiday magic closer to home. With its return, Chicagoans can once again enjoy this cherished tradition in three locations across the region. Lake View residents are encouraged to visit opening weekend to experience the festive atmosphere and perhaps be among the first to collect this year's signature souvenir mug.
