MCA Chicago Launches Winter Art Series with Extended Hours for Streeterville Residents

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Streeterville ·

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is bringing extra warmth to Streeterville this winter with the announcement of extended Tuesday evening hours and a special winter art series beginning December 2, 2025. Located at 220 E. Chicago Avenue, the MCA will continue its popular free admission for Illinois residents every Tuesday from 5-9 p.m., while introducing new interactive workshops designed specifically for neighborhood families.

The museum, which has been a cultural cornerstone in Streeterville since 1967, is expanding its community engagement initiatives with the new series that will include hands-on art activities, local artist spotlights, and seasonal refreshments in the Commons area. 'We're creating opportunities for meaningful connections through art during the winter months,' explained a museum representative, highlighting how the provocative events will take place throughout various spaces in the museum. The initiative builds on the success of summer programs like Tuesdays on the Terrace, which showcased Chicago's internationally renowned jazz community.

Streeterville residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for the kickoff event on December 2, which will feature collaborative art installations and family-friendly activities that celebrate the neighborhood's artistic heritage. With its prime location just blocks from Michigan Avenue, the MCA continues to serve as both a destination for visitors and a vibrant community space for locals to gather and experience contemporary creativity during the winter season.
