Albany Park Selected to Host Special Neighborhood Taste of Chicago Festival This August
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Albany Park ·
Albany Park will showcase its incredible cultural diversity this summer as one of three neighborhoods selected to host a special Taste of Chicago event on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Taking place on Kimball Avenue between Lawrence and Leland from noon to 8 p.m., the free festival will feature global music performances by Los Gaiteros de Pueblo Santo, Chicago Immigrant Orchestra, Surabhi Ensemble, and FUGU DUGU.
Known as one of Chicago's most diverse communities, Albany Park's celebration will have a distinctly international flavor with Chicago SummerDance offering cultural dance lessons in cumbia, Bollywood, Mexican folk, and open dance sessions led by DJ BMazed. The neighborhood event precedes the main Taste of Chicago festival in Grant Park (September 5-7) and is part of the city's initiative to celebrate Chicago's diverse communities through local food, music, and dance. "Whether you're dancing in Albany Park or enjoying a sweet treat in Grant Park, Taste of Chicago is where Chicagoans come together to experience the flavor of our city. Each bite, beat, and moment reflects the rich stories and neighborhoods that make Chicago home," said DCASE Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth.
Residents eager to experience this cultural celebration can find more information at TasteofChicago.us. Mark your calendars for this opportunity to sample local cuisine while enjoying performances that highlight Albany Park's status as "Chicago's Gateway to the World."
