Northwest Art Trail Expansion Enriches Jefferson Park's Cultural Landscape with Five New Sculptures

Jefferson Park residents now have even more reasons to explore their neighborhood as the NW Art Trail Walk has expanded with five new sculptures along Milwaukee Avenue. The art trail, which connects Jefferson Park and Portage Park business districts, features both abstract and traditional art pieces celebrating the area's cultural heritage.

"Art is essential," said State Senator Robert Martwick, who helped Arts Alive Chicago conceive and launch this creative initiative. Among the new installations is Schencheng Xu's colorful 'Northbound,' a painted-steel piece depicting geese during their annual migration. The expanded trail not only enhances the neighborhood's aesthetic appeal but also aims to increase foot traffic to local businesses while highlighting the area's rich arts scene, including venues like the Filament Theatre, Gift Theatre, Copernicus Center, and Paschke Art Center.

Community members interested in experiencing the expanded art walk can look for trail markers installed on businesses along the route, making it easy to discover both art and local establishments. This initiative represents another positive step in Jefferson Park's ongoing community revitalization efforts, adding to the neighborhood's growing reputation as a hub for arts and cultural gatherings.
