Las Tablas Owner to Transform Irving Park Location with Cultural Center and Apartments
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·
Irving Park residents can look forward to an exciting transformation at a beloved neighborhood restaurant as Las Tablas Colombian Steakhouse owner Soraya Campos announces plans for a major redevelopment at 4920 W. Irving Park Road. The ambitious project will expand beyond just dining to include a dedicated cultural center and 18 residential apartments in a new four-story building.
The development will replace the current restaurant location and incorporate two adjacent vacant lots, creating a vibrant mixed-use destination designed by Aria Group Architects. The new building will feature a fresh space for the restaurant on the ground floor alongside the cultural center, with one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 900 to 1,100 square feet on the upper floors. The brick and masonry design will include balconies for every residential unit, maintaining aesthetic harmony with the neighborhood while adding modern amenities.
With an estimated cost of $9.5 million, the project still requires approval from the Committee on Zoning and City Council for necessary zoning changes. If approved, construction could begin this spring with the restaurant portion opening by the end of 2025 and the remainder of the project completed in 2026. Neighbors interested in staying updated on this development can attend upcoming zoning meetings or follow Las Tablas on social media for the latest news about this exciting addition to Irving Park's growing reputation as a cultural and residential hub.
