Midwest Express Clinic to Bring New Urgent Care Facility to Hyde Park's Kimbark Plaza in Early 2026

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Hyde Park ·

Hyde Park residents will soon have a convenient new healthcare option as Midwest Express Clinic prepares to open an urgent care facility in Kimbark Plaza early next year. The clinic will occupy the former home of Leona's Pizzeria, which closed in spring 2023 after many years serving the neighborhood.

Workers have already begun transforming the space, gutting the interior down to its brick walls to prepare for the clinic's specific needs. When completed, the facility will provide walk-in treatment for non-emergency illnesses and injuries, filling a healthcare gap for many in the community. "It will be the only standalone urgent care facility in the neighborhood," noted Suni Karim, the realtor who leased the property. The new location will become Midwest Express Clinic's 14th site within Chicago city limits and its 52nd overall, joining the rapidly growing urgent care industry which has nearly doubled nationwide over the past decade.

The clinic's prime location in Kimbark Plaza offers visibility and convenient parking for patients, making it an accessible healthcare option for Hyde Park residents. Community members interested in learning more about services that will be offered can visit the Midwest Express Clinic website as the opening date approaches.
