Albany Park Welcomes New Mixed-Use Development with Affordable Housing and Childcare Center

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Albany Park ·

Albany Park residents have a new housing option as the Maria Elena Sifuentes Apartments officially opened its doors at 3559 W. Lawrence Avenue. This six-story, mixed-use development represents a major investment in affordable housing for the diverse Northwest Side community.

The development, created by Celadon Partners in partnership with Communities United's affordable housing initiative and 33rd Ward Alderwoman Rossana Rodríguez, aims to address gentrification concerns in the neighborhood. The project reflects a collaborative effort between community organizations and city officials to preserve affordable living options in one of Chicago's most multicultural areas. A standout feature of the building is its ground-floor commercial space, which houses Concordia Place, an award-winning, locally-based non-profit daycare provider that serves both resident families and the surrounding community. The 6,500-square-foot childcare center adds valuable services for working families in the area.

"This is an opportunity for families to settle in this neighborhood, for children to go to school without fear that they will have to change schools next year, and for businesses to benefit from new families calling Albany Park their new home," said Merced Alday, Communities United Albany Park leader. Residents interested in learning more about this development or other affordable housing initiatives in Albany Park can contact the 33rd Ward office or visit the Communities United website for additional information.
