Oakland Residents Invited to Shape Lakefront Improvements at Upcoming Mandrake Park Meeting
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Oakland ·
Oakland residents have an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of their neighborhood's lakefront access. A public meeting will be held on December 5, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Mandrake Park to discuss improvements to Burnham Park between 45th and 51st Streets.
The meeting represents another positive step in Oakland's ongoing neighborhood revitalization. Located at 3858 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Mandrake Park has become a cornerstone of the community, featuring tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, and its popular quarter-mile running track. The park regularly hosts special events throughout the year and serves as a hub connecting residents to the lakefront.
Community input will be essential in determining how these lakefront improvements can best serve neighborhood needs while enhancing the connection between Oakland's residential areas and Lake Michigan. Residents interested in participating can simply attend the December 5 meeting, where they'll have the opportunity to share their ideas and learn more about proposed enhancements to this vital community resource.
