Garfield Ridge Community Council Announces Winter Wellness Program for Seniors

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Garfield Ridge ·

The Garfield Ridge Neighborhood Watch (GRNW) has announced the launch of a new Winter Wellness Program for seniors in the community, set to begin the first week of December 2025. This initiative aims to support the neighborhood's significant senior citizen population during the winter months by providing indoor fitness classes, health workshops, and social gatherings at the Garfield Ridge Community Center.

The program, which follows GRNW's tradition of hosting free, accessible community events, will feature weekly activities designed specifically for older adults, including gentle yoga, nutrition workshops, and community meals. "This is about creating warm, welcoming spaces for our seniors during the colder months," explains a GRNW representative. "We recognize how important it is to maintain both physical health and social connections, especially during winter."

Residents interested in participating or volunteering for the Winter Wellness Program can find more information on the GRNW website or attend their next meeting at St. Faustina Ward Hall. Like all GRNW-sponsored events, the program will be free of charge and open to all community members, continuing the organization's 17-year commitment to fostering neighborhood connections throughout the seasons.
