Albany Park Community Center Unveils Technology Hub for Youth Education

Albany Park residents have a new resource for digital learning as the neighborhood's Community Center unveiled its Technology Hub for Youth Education this week. The 1,800-square-foot facility, located within the existing community center on Lawrence Avenue, features twenty new computer workstations, high-speed internet access, and dedicated spaces for coding workshops, digital art classes, and homework assistance.

The Technology Hub resulted from a collaborative effort between the Albany Park Community Center, local tech companies, and the 33rd Ward office. With a focus on addressing digital equity, the center will offer free weekly coding sessions for middle and high school students, computer literacy workshops for seniors, and technical skills training for job-seekers. "This new technology center represents our commitment to ensuring all Albany Park residents have access to the digital tools necessary for success in today's economy," said Roberto Maldonado, executive director of the Albany Park Community Center.

Community members interested in signing up for programs or volunteering as technology mentors can visit the center Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. A special open house celebration is scheduled for December 7th, featuring demonstrations of the new equipment, refreshments, and registration for upcoming winter programming. The Technology Hub enhances Albany Park's growing reputation as one of Chicago's most forward-thinking and community-centered neighborhoods.
