By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Englewood ·
West Englewood residents have more reasons to celebrate this holiday season as the Go Green Community Fresh Market at 63rd and Racine announces extended evening hours and special holiday programming through December. The community-run grocery store, which has become a vital food access point since opening, will now remain open until 9:00 PM on weekdays to accommodate holiday shoppers.
The market, known for its distinctive interior featuring West African-inspired color schemes and community focus, will host free holiday cooking classes in its second-floor training spaces throughout December. Additionally, the market is expanding its outdoor area for a special holiday market featuring local vendors, creating opportunities for neighborhood entrepreneurs while providing a festive shopping experience. "Our vision has always been to create more than just a store, but a true community hub," explains market manager Darren Jeters. "These holiday initiatives represent our ongoing commitment to West Englewood."
West Englewood residents are encouraged to visit the market's expanded evening hours and participate in the holiday cooking demonstrations every Thursday in December. The special outdoor vendor market will operate on weekends from 12-5pm, featuring local crafts, prepared foods, and seasonal goods perfect for holiday gift-giving. For more information about vendor opportunities or class registration, residents can call the market directly or visit in person at 1208 W. 63rd Street.
