Green Wedding Alliance Opens Eco-Friendly Event Hub on Near West Side

The Near West Side is welcoming a new sustainable business initiative as the Green Wedding Alliance establishes its first dedicated event hub in the West Loop. The collaborative network of environmentally responsible event vendors officially opens its doors this month, creating a central location for the 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to furthering education regarding sustainability within Chicago's event industry.
The new space will serve as both a headquarters and demonstration venue, showcasing how celebrations can be both luxurious and environmentally responsible. The Alliance's mission addresses a significant environmental challenge—traditional weddings produce an estimated 400 pounds of trash and 63 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each. The Near West Side location will feature eco-friendly designs, including comprehensive recycling and composting systems, reusable alternatives to single-use plastics, and sustainably sourced decor options. The center will host community events throughout December, including their signature "Committed" showcase featuring Chicago's most eco-minded vendors. Residents interested in sustainable event planning are encouraged to visit during upcoming open houses where they can explore how to incorporate earth-friendly practices into celebrations while supporting local businesses.
