Jigzibik Housing Complex Nears Completion as Irving Park Welcomes City's First Indigenous-Focused Housing Development

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·

Irving Park residents are witnessing a significant milestone in community development as the Jigzibik affordable housing complex at 2907 W. Irving Park Road approaches completion. This pioneering development, whose name means "At the River's Edge" in Potawatomi, represents Chicago's first affordable housing project specifically designed with Indigenous communities in mind.

The seven-story structure features a distinctive sawtooth design reminiscent of flowing water, complementing its riverside name. When completed, Jigzibik will provide 45 affordable apartments with a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. Beyond housing, the development will include culturally responsive amenities such as a rooftop garden, community kitchen, art and maker space, and on-site services tailored to residents' needs. The project, led by Full Circle Communities in partnership with Native American-led Visionary Ventures, has been designed for multi-generational living to strengthen community bonds.

Neighbors interested in learning more about this transformative addition to Irving Park can join the interest list through the Full Circle Communities website. As construction progresses toward the anticipated 2026 completion, the development stands as a testament to Irving Park's evolving identity as a neighborhood that values diversity, inclusion, and community-centered development.
