Major Milestone for Lincoln Park: JDL Development Officially Closes $84 Million Foundry Park Land Purchase

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Lincoln Park ·

A significant development milestone has been reached for Lincoln Park as JDL Development has officially completed its $84 million purchase of land for the highly anticipated Foundry Park project. The property, located along the Chicago River, was previously part of the stalled Lincoln Yards megadevelopment, with JDL partnering with Kayne Anderson Capital to secure funding for the ambitious new neighborhood vision.

The newly branded Foundry Park development will focus primarily on residential use with a more neighborhood-friendly scale than the original Lincoln Yards plan. The project will be anchored by approximately eight acres of open space, with an extension of Southport Avenue serving as the main thoroughfare. Plans include 2,000 to 3,000 residential units featuring a diverse mix of housing options including condos, single-family homes, townhomes, and apartments that will create a vibrant new community within Lincoln Park.

Lincoln Park residents interested in learning more about this transformative project can attend a community meeting scheduled for next week, where additional renderings and details will be presented. According to Alderman Scott Waguespack, city officials are working closely with JDL to "get this concept moving forward as quickly as we can," signaling strong support for this exciting addition to the neighborhood's northern edge.
