Novel Pizza Cafe Expands Offering Filipino-Mexican Fusion Menu for Holiday Season

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Pilsen ·

Pilsen's innovative Novel Pizza Cafe is bringing a festive twist to its unique Filipino-Mexican fusion offerings this December. The popular eatery at 1759 W. 19th St., known for its creative approach to Chicago's pizza tradition, has unveiled a special holiday menu featuring seasonal ingredients that celebrate the neighborhood's diverse cultural heritage.

Founded by Filipino cousins Ryan Catolico and Francis Almeda alongside Mexican chef Enrique Huizar, Novel Pizza has quickly become a community favorite since opening. Their tavern and pan-style pies blend culinary influences from their respective backgrounds, creating what one patron described as "a perfect representation of Pilsen's evolving food scene." Located just steps from the National Museum of Mexican Art, the cafe's '90s-inspired decor provides a nostalgic backdrop for their innovative dishes.

Residents looking to experience Novel's holiday offerings can visit Thursday through Sunday evenings. The cafe is also participating in the upcoming El Paseo community engagement event on December 12, where neighborhood planners will gather feedback on the revitalized trail project while enjoying Novel's signature pies.
