00 million initiative that will convert a long-abandoned rail line into a 1.75-mile recreational trail through the heart of Bronzeville.The city's $5 million commitment last year to activate and begin phase one construction, along with enthusiastic community support, means the Bronzeville Trail is well on its way to becoming reality. Project leaders believe the trail will prove to be "the most catalytic and transformative project in the history of Bronzeville" with potential to generate over
billion in investment for the South Side. The completed trail will stretch from 40th and Dearborn Streets east toward 41st and Lake Park, creating sustainable infrastructure that addresses historical neglect while providing health and recreational benefits for South Side residents.
