Historic 400 Theater Set to Reopen Under New Operator in Rogers Park
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Rogers Park ·
Rogers Park cinephiles have reason to celebrate as the historic 400 Theater at 6746 N. Sheridan Road is slated to reopen under new management. Michigan-based exhibitor Jordan Stancil has agreed to lease the shuttered 113-year-old venue, which was Chicago's oldest continuously operating movie theater until its closure in 2023.
Stancil, who operates three historic movie theaters in Michigan, including the Rialto Theater in Grayling which his family has owned since 1915, will bring new life to this beloved neighborhood institution. While the exact reopening date hasn't been announced, Stancil plans to install new projection technology and offer diverse programming that pairs first-run studio releases with independent and foreign films, along with community events.
Rogers Park residents can follow the theater's Facebook page for announcements regarding the reopening timeline and upcoming programming. This revival represents an exciting cultural addition to the neighborhood, restoring a cornerstone establishment that has been part of Rogers Park's identity for over a century.
