Culinary Milestone: Pita Inn's First Chicago Location Breaks Ground in Portage Park

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Portage Park ·

Portage Park's Six Corners shopping district is celebrating a significant culinary milestone as construction officially begins on Pita Inn's first-ever Chicago location. The popular Mediterranean restaurant chain, which currently operates five suburban establishments, is breaking new ground at 4045 North Cicero Avenue on the former Sears Auto Center site.

The development marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing revitalization of Six Corners, with the restaurant being part of a larger project that will also feature a Burlington department store and a Wells Fargo branch. Hirsch MPG is serving as the architect of record for the new standalone building, while Mark Scheerhorn of Chipman Design Architecture in Des Plaines will oversee the restaurant's interior buildout. The Pita Inn location will include an attractive outdoor dining area connected by a walkway to the adjacent bank, enhancing the neighborhood's growing reputation as a dining destination.

Community leaders have expressed enthusiasm about this development, describing it as "a significant milestone in the ongoing revitalization of Six Corners, reinforcing its status as a vibrant commercial and cultural hub." Residents interested in learning more about this exciting addition to Portage Park's dining scene can attend the next Portage Park Advisory Council meeting on December 22 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
