West Englewood residents now have access to expanded mental health services with the grand opening of the Ada S. McKinley Mental Wellness Clinic and Multi-Service Building. The $3 million renovated facility at 6033 S. Wentworth Avenue celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 2, offering multiple services including the first Youth Crisis Stabilization Center on Chicago's South Side.

The comprehensive center features a mental wellness clinic, family resource hub, and a "Golden Years Program" for seniors with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A unique addition, Sophia's Café, will open in spring 2026, providing healthy food options while employing people with disabilities. The Youth Crisis Stabilization Center can serve nearly 50 young people weekly with innovative "somatic intervention" approaches that encourage body and art expression when traditional therapy isn't sufficient.

CEO Jamal Malone emphasized the organization's commitment to holistic community support during the celebration, which included a community food giveaway. West Englewood residents interested in accessing services or learning more about the center's programs can visit the facility directly or explore offerings through Ada S. McKinley's website.
