Rogers Park's beloved movie house is getting a second chance as Michigan-based exhibitor Jordan Stancil has officially leased the historic 400 Theater at 6746 N. Sheridan Road. The 113-year-old venue, which was Chicago's oldest continuously operating movie theater until its closure in 2023, will soon welcome film enthusiasts back to its storied halls.

Stancil, who operates three historic movie theaters in Michigan including the family-owned Rialto Theater in Grayling (established 1915), plans to revitalize the Rogers Park institution with new projection technology and diverse programming. "Everyone is excited to honor The 400 Theater's unique place in the Rogers Park community," said Stancil. "Independent theaters enrich local culture by offering spaces for shared experiences, and I look forward to partnering with the community to make The 400 a cultural anchor once again."

While an exact reopening date hasn't been announced, residents can follow the theater's Facebook page for updates on the timeline and upcoming programming. The revival represents a significant cultural addition to the neighborhood, preserving a cornerstone establishment that has been part of Rogers Park's identity for over a century.
