Athletic Field Park Launches Winter Art Program Series to Complement Popular Indoor Farmers Market

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·

Irving Park residents have a new reason to visit Athletic Field Park this winter as the park launches an expanded seasonal arts program series coinciding with the neighborhood's growing indoor winter farmers market. The park, located at 3945 N. Springfield Avenue, will offer special weekend ceramics workshops from December 7 through March 2026, building on its reputation for quality pottery and arts programs.

The new winter initiative takes advantage of the park's specialized ceramics facility, which remains one of its most popular amenities since the installation of additional kilns in 1969. "We've created a winter program that complements the farmers market schedule, allowing neighbors to make a day of their visit," explains program coordinator Maria Hernandez. "Visitors can shop for fresh local produce and artisan foods at the market, then join a hands-on workshop creating functional pottery pieces perfect for serving winter meals."

Irving Park neighbors interested in participating can register through the Chicago Park District website, with classes available for all skill levels from beginners to advanced ceramics artists. The winter schedule also includes a special holiday-themed family workshop on Saturday, December 13, where participants can create handmade gifts while supporting local food producers. For more information about upcoming programs or to register for winter ceramics classes, visit the Athletic Field Park website or stop by the field house during regular hours.
