Lillstreet Art Center Marks Golden Anniversary with Special Holiday Exhibition and Documentary Premiere

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Ravenswood ·

A beloved Ravenswood institution celebrates a remarkable milestone this weekend as Lillstreet Art Center commemorates its 50th anniversary with a festive holiday party on Friday, December 5 from 5-8pm. Founded in 1975 by Bruce Robbins, the center has evolved from a small ceramics studio in Lincoln Park to Ravenswood's 40,000-square-foot hub of artistic innovation at 4401 N. Ravenswood Avenue.

The family-friendly celebration will feature complimentary food and drinks, live music, open studios, workshops, and free art demonstrations. Visitors can experience the premiere of "Dream a Lill: 50 Years of Molding Makers," a documentary by Chicago filmmaker Gabriel Cuillier chronicling the center's remarkable journey. "Serendipity. I always say, it was very serendipitous," reflected Robbins on the center's origins. The event coincides with "The Holiday Table" exhibition showcasing functional ceramics, jewelry, textiles, and gift items from over 50 craft artists from the Lillstreet community and around the US, running through December 31. Ravenswood residents interested in supporting local artists while holiday shopping are encouraged to visit this neighborhood treasure that continues its half-century tradition of nurturing creativity in Chicago.
