New Indoor Winter Farmers Market Debuts at McKinley Park Field House

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Mckinley Park ·

McKinley Park residents will have a new opportunity to shop locally for fresh produce and artisan goods with the launch of the neighborhood's first Indoor Winter Farmers Market starting Saturday, December 13, at the McKinley Park Field House. Organized by the McKinley Park Development Council in partnership with Star Farm Chicago, this weekly market will operate every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through March 2026.

The initiative builds on the success of previous pop-up farmers markets held in the park, which featured fresh vegetables and fruits brought to McKinley Park through partnerships with local farms. The winter market will include over 20 vendors offering seasonal produce, baked goods, handcrafted items, and prepared foods, providing neighborhood residents a convenient option for fresh, locally-sourced items during the winter months. Special programming will include cooking demonstrations, children's activities, and live music from local performers.

"This market represents another step in strengthening our neighborhood economy and supporting local businesses," shared Kate Eakin, President of the McKinley Park Development Council. Residents interested in attending the inaugural market can find more information on the McKinley Park website or by visiting the field house at 2210 W. Pershing Road. The indoor location ensures the market will operate regardless of winter weather, making it a reliable weekend destination for community members throughout the colder months.
