The new facility will replace the deteriorated 1904 structure with a modern two-story fieldhouse featuring a full gymnasium, dedicated boxing gym, fitness room, dance studio, teen room, clubroom, and updated support spaces. Park District CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa called the project a "dream fulfilled" for Englewood, noting that the fieldhouse will "bring people together, expand opportunities for recreation, and support the wellbeing of patrons of all ages." Alderman David Moore, who represents the 17th Ward where the park is located, credited local young people for inspiring the project, especially "the Ogden Park Vikings Football Team and Cheerleaders" who asked him to make it a priority. The 60-acre park, which already serves as a community anchor with programs ranging from after-school activities to summer camp, boxing and teen programs, will begin community engagement on the detailed design in spring 2026.
