South Side Sanctuary Announces Winter Community Festival for Bronzeville Residents

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Bronzeville ·

Bronzeville's popular South Side Sanctuary will transform into a winter wonderland this weekend as it hosts its inaugural Winter Community Festival. The 13,000-square-foot outdoor plaza at 4702 S. Martin Luther King Drive, which opened earlier this year, will feature seasonal activities, local vendors, and live performances on December 13-14.

The event is organized by South Side Sanctuary founders Cecilia Cuff, co-owner of Bronzeville Winery, and Jasmine Anwuli Michaels, CEO of Chicago-based Oases. The space, which includes a performance stage, green areas, and vendor spaces, provides the perfect setting for seasonal celebrations. Activities will showcase the Sanctuary's four pillars of programming: integrative wellness, entrepreneurship, arts and culture, and sports and recreation, with winter-themed workshops and demonstrations led by neighborhood residents.

"This festival celebrates Bronzeville's creative spirit and brings our community together during the holiday season," said Cuff. "By bringing neighbors together in this space, we're supporting local businesses and creating stronger community bonds." Residents are encouraged to bring family and friends to enjoy hot cocoa, shop from local artisans, and experience the plaza's festive transformation.
