Albany Park Winter Market Transforms Lawrence Avenue This Weekend with Local Artisans and Cultural Performances

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Albany Park ·

Albany Park's Workshop Arts Collaborative is bringing holiday cheer to the neighborhood this weekend with a special Winter Market showcasing local artisans and performers. The event will take place in the newly renovated community arts space at 3741-49 W. Lawrence Avenue, which has undergone a remarkable transformation thanks to a

.2 million city grant awarded earlier this year.

Visitors can explore a variety of holiday gift options from neighborhood craftspeople displayed in the venue's flexible 2,200-square-foot event space, while enjoying performances by local musicians throughout the weekend. The market will feature a street-facing pop-up space with rotating vendors selling handmade goods ranging from vintage instruments to art supplies. The event marks the first major community celebration in the space since renovation work began on the century-old building, which developers have transformed into a vibrant cultural hub with 12-14 soundproof rehearsal spaces.

"This market represents exactly what we envisioned for the Workshop Arts Collaborative—a place where our community can come together to celebrate local creativity," said developer James Yelen, who spearheaded the $2.4 million renovation project. "We're excited to welcome everyone to experience this new cultural anchor for Albany Park." The market runs Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm, with free admission for all community members. For more information about participating vendors or the performance schedule, visit the Albany Park Chamber of Commerce website.
